Out of Bounds Comedy Festival is Austin’s longest-running and largest non-profit event. It showcases the best of sketch, stand-up, and improv from Austin and around the globe. The goal of the Austin comedy community is to bring attention to the podcast, musical, variety, renowned improv, and stand-up acts in the week-long festival.

The festival was founded in 2002 to promote the local comedy talent for the funniest and completely fresh stand-up, sketch, and improv shows. It displays the independent spirit of Austin by focusing on its homegrown talent and boost the city’s comedy organizations.

Purpose of Out of Bounds Comedy Festival

Out of Bounds festival aims to strengthen networks among the performers, provide educational opportunities to the participants and highlight Austin’s industry interests and tourism. This platform brings about 500 performers and over 130 acts from across the globe to the Out of Bounds Comedy festival at Austin.

During these unprecedented times, we find comfort in smaller and lighter activities. This week-long festival lets you experience the best of entertainment across all comedy disciplines, the worlds’ most extensive display of improv and sketch against the picturesque backdrop of Austin, Texas.

The guests in the past have been Tim Meadows from Saturday Night Live, Jim Rash from Community, and Gina Yashere from The Daily Show.

These veterans perform along the world’s rising stars to entertain the enthusiasts both locally and around the globe. The crowd-pleaser is its diverse mix of different viewpoints so that everybody in the audience can find the sort of comedy that fits their interest.

What should you look forward to at the Out of Bounds music festival?

This is a week-long festival with not only comedy or improv shows but also many workshops for you to learn from. Each of these workshops is three hours long, and if any of these workshops is a sellout, you can get onto the waiting list. Though workshops are open for everyone, it is recommended that the students gain some comedy or improv experience for a better learning experience.

The demand for seats in these workshops is such that if any student is late for more than 10 minutes without prior notification, they lose their spot, which will go to those on the waitlist.
